Reporting

In depth reporting on poverty has not been attempted in Malaysia before.  With the increase in Urban Poverty over the traditional Rural Poverty and the grim possibility of inflation induced poverty hanging over the fringe poverty groups, accurate and up to date reporting is a necessity to allow governments, and every level, local, state and federal to plan and implement plans to overcome the problem.

How we work :

Initial Report:

  • Preparation of a report on the true extent of
    • Urban Poverty
    • Rural Poverty
  • Design programs to overcome poverty clusters

Need to know the number of poor in your area?

Dasar Kurnia have been supplying reliable and verifiable data on poverty clusters to the government and NGO’s for the past two years.  We also provide reports.  We would be happy to meet with you to discuss your needs.

In a report released today, the Asian Development Bank (ADB) offers a new way to measure poverty in the Asia and Pacific region. The report, published in a special chapter of Key Indicators 2008, the flagship annual statistical publication of the ADB, describes important methodological issues involved in generating internationally comparable estimates of poverty.

The special chapter, titled Comparing Poverty Across Countries: The Role of Purchasing Power Parities, also provides comparable rates of poverty using price data specific to the Asia and Pacific region, and, critically, to the poor.

Independent Poverty Dialogue, Klang Valley – “Role of CSR in achieving zero poverty in the Klang Valley”

We are currently calling for speakers for this event and are looking for Corporate Organizations who’s CSR programs are specifically aimed at poverty reduction or eradication to share their experiences with us.

We are also calling on all independent NGO’s involved in poverty eradication or reduction to be involved and to help form an IPD Network which will work towards sharing resources and experiences to lobby the government on behalf of the poor and disadvantaged in the Klang Valley.
