Anne Velu

An Australian who has lived and worked on and off in Asia for over ten years, Anne has been involved in community service both in Australia and Asia starting at a very early age, developing and maintaining a heart of compassion for those who need help. As a co-founder of Dasar Kurnia, she was also a team member on the development of the Micro-Affluence model.
“Charity has become a black hole and we can keep pouring money in there but it just disappears and there is never enough. We need to look at doing things differently if we want to change people’s lives for the better in the long term”, says Anne. “We have personally seen this work with our project at GOSM Pudu, where people were given the education and opportunity to gain working skills which has taken them from earning RM 150 per month as part time cleaners to RM3,000 per month as tradesmen.”
A writer, businesswoman, mother, grandmother and philanthropist, this woman has amazing amounts of energy and a vision for developing people so they not only help themselves but are in a position to help others.
